Reader Reviews:A charming introduction to this legend, beautifully illustrated. (1/1 people found this helpful)Many Scottish children's books are, in my opinion, either too international in flavour or too Scottish in that they may not be accessible to children south of the border (or in other English-speaking countries). Linda Strachan cleverly avoids these extremes by the device of including Rupert, a hedgehog from Kent, in her wee cast of characters, all of whom are cleverly drawn (pun intended, as the illustrations are colourful and engaging). Whenever a Scottish expression is used (occasionally) it has to be explained to Rupert. For good measure, there's also a glossary at the back of the book.
