This cookbook is my favorite. As a Dietitian I have used this book in my Healthy Cooking Classes to demonstrate how easily Ms. Tribole's low fat suggestions can be implemented. The recipes have always received rave reviews with the participants returning the following week with their own Helathy Homestyle Cookbook. I am purchasing another copy for myself today as mine is falling apart from being used so much at my home and the homes of many friends and family members. I consider this book an essential in every kitchen.

Evelyn Tribole does a great job of teaching you how to lessen the fat in your own recipes without sacraficing taste and texture. The recipes in the book are great too - I haven't made a bad one yet ! She doesn't modify a recipe in ways that effect the end-quality of the food so it doesn't taste like a "diet" recipe. Even my picky husband likes it and speaks highly of the book to our friends and family. Lastly, the recipes are usually pretty easy to make - no exotic ingredients that are hard to find. Most things are right in the cupboard! Many dinners can be prepared in a half hour or so. Another good book by Evelyn Tribole is "Stealth Health."

The recipes in this book are delicious! It is so refreshing to make dishes that are healthier for our family w/o sacrificing taste or quality. My husband and I take turns making dinner every night and he loves how easy it is to use. He is also a very picky eater and he loves the meals we make. I have been consistently using this book for over a year to make our dinners, and I make one dish a week to take as my lunch for the week. Best thing we ever did!!

This is by far the best low fat cookbook ever! This book shows that low fat foods can be extremely tasty and good for you! I love the scorecard and the variety of foods. My family has made many of these recipes. Our favorites include Greek Penne Pasta, My Favorite Manacotti, and Hawaiin Chicken!

The Best Healthy Cookbook I've ever come across!!! (0/0 people found this helpful)

I got this book 3 weeks ago on a whim, and am I glad I did!! This is a very wonderful common sense cookbook. You can get all your ingredients at the grocery store-one stop shopping if you want to. I have made the cinnamon cocoa bars (first recipe I tried), absolutely delectable. The topping consists of marshmallow cream, cocoa powder, pecans, light corn syrup and sugar. Thats what makes it so rich and satisfying. The Greek Penne Pasta is delicious as are the Chicken Tostadas, and I just got done making her gingerbread recipe. I am willing to bet that if you didnt tell them it had some whole wheat flour (she blends a little of the white and the wheat), and applesauce in it to make it healthier-they would not know the difference. I just cut it while it is still warm; its moist and delicious and it smells good (too bad there's no smell-a-vision here). Oh, I did make the macaroni and cheese too. Instead of using just skim milk, she puts evaporated skim milk with it too. It makes it richer and its not runny at all. You've got to get this book!! I sure hope she keeps on writing cookbooks. She has a wealth of knowledge on how to make it healthier but keeps it tasting yummy. I am very picky about food and coming from this very critical critic, its excellent!!!!
