I read the other reviews and then bought this book for my daughter. We both thought it was great, it's almost like it was written for her, we have tried about 4 of the recipes so far, love the way it is written and the illustrations, it is what it is, a small, funny, vegan book whith some good recipes.

Confusing, but great! (1/1 people found this helpful)

Okay, so I didn't realize when I ordered that this is two cookbooks by two different authors in one. Which is why there are a few "repeats" like another reviewer commented. They're not actually duplicate recipes--they're each author's own take on it, and not just a variation.

I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, as it's Lent and I'm fasting from eating like a pig. These recipes are pretty greasy--but that's the point! Vegan doesn't always equal health food. This is down home cooking vegan-style. I'm excited to start trying a few in April--especially the hush puppies. Can't remember the last time I had one of those. I especially like that the ingredients are simple and easy to find.

My one complaint is that the regional dialect these books are written in can get a bit tiresome after a while.... yar

Very Disappointed (1/1 people found this helpful)

I was really looking forward to this book but I wasn't impressed when it arrived. The recipes are messily written and to be honest the ones I've tried just aren't that tasty. I don't think I'll bother using it again.

Great book - makes a change from the holier than thou vegan books! (4/4 people found this helpful)

If you're used to reading vegan cookbooks you'll be used to the super-healthy, any sugar is bad mentality a lot of them have. This book is the polar opposite; it's dirty food for dirty people and I love it (ah tell yuh wut)!

Entertaining illustrations (dias de los muertos stylee) and a great style of writing. Who cares if some of the recipes are variations of others, it only costs £3 goddammnit!

Along with the "Garden of Vegan"/"How it all vegan" books this is my new favourite vegan cookbook. Buy it now before they all run out!

An ok book... lots of pretty novelty pictures act as an amusing distraction from the oil and fat laden recipes (many of which are repeated... in the same book).
