Good book but a little bit too graphic in the romance area (0/0 people found this helpful)

Great plot - and well executed and written, but the romance scenes .. oh my word! I just skipped past most of them .. too graphic and pointless to the actual storyline of the book .. did put me off reading it a bit, however, that said, it was a good book. As an alternative for others of you out there, I have just finished reading Retribution by Jilliane Hoffman .. now that is an unputdownable book .. recommend you try it.

This is the first time i've written a review before i've actually finished the book, i've got about a hundred pages to go.
Since i started reading the book its have me enthralled and its just gotten better and better.
What i love about it is it goes into more details about the crimes and the forensics than fiction novels usually do and i LOVE the length of the book. Its around 600 pages long but it doesn't drag along at all, and its nice to have so much substance to a story as usually these type of books don't last even 400 pages.
I am definately going to be reading more of Ms Rose's books after i've finished this one. The best book i've read in quite a long time.

I thoroughly enjoyed the high tension and fastmoving action in this book. However I found the love interest between the main caracter and the policeman very over done and rather irritating,but generally an excellent read

A Homicide detective who has lost everything in the world that matters to him. Finally a killer whose own brand of justice, vigilante style, threatens to light the blue touch paper to that powder keg that is just waiting for one little spark to set it off . . .

This is good honest suspense writing without any of the baggage of long lost secrets, stolen art treasures or middle aged knights coming back to life to set the world to rights. It is like a breath of fresh air.

I really love thrillers, serial killer books etc and was looking for a new author since patricia cornwall descended into madness and bad writing. Thought I'd try this as it had great reviews, but the writing was terrible! A very predictable storyline - I worked out who had done it early on. Very predictable dialogue. Quite stereotypical and one-dimensional charcaters etc. I got about 2 thirds of the way through and skipped to the end to check I was right about the killer and promptly dispensed the book to Oxfam. At least the starving in Africa might benefit from the resale of this book. I had however just read the latest Karin Slaughter - skin privilege- so perhaps my expectations were too high. Now THERE'S a great writer and storyteller! Karen Rose has nothing on her!
