Imagined Diasporas Among Manchester Muslims: The Public Performance of Pakistani Transnational Identity Politics (World Anthropology)

First of all, Pnina Werbner is a good writer, something that can't be taken for granted in an academic. Secondly, she has obviously spent a lot of time researching her subject and thinking about her interpretations of that research. The book takes us into a world few non-Pakistanis ever venture into: that of intracommunity politics. Her descriptions of this world are vivid and her ethnography accomplished. Less successful (i felt) was her lit crit of Salman Rushdie's Satanic Verses.
