Written buy archaeologists it seems to be stuck in that niche but deserves a much wider audience. Set against the well researched and fascinating history of piracy in the Indian Ocean, no one could fail to be fascinated by the tale of Robert Drury's life. The contemporary archaeology and detective work is explained with wit and humour, and constantly interlaced with what it tells us about Drury's life with the Tandroy people in early 18th century Madagascar.
