Flash MX 2004, beyond the basics (2/2 people found this helpful)

This book took me quite painlessly from being a novice Flash user (very cautious about writing ActionScript) through to a moderately competent user ready to move on to 'greater things'.
If you have a basic understanding of the subject and want to go further this book, quite seriously, is for YOU. The exercises are well structured and the supporting demos on the CD are very, very helpful.
Some cricitism are inevitable. Unfortunately there's no 'finished' copy of any of the lessons which would, in my view, help enormously when things don't quite work. The book also skirts around the use of Flash components and prefers, in several places, to show you how to generate a wad of ActionScript to produce results that can be achieved more easily with components and their associated behaviours.
But, even though Flash 8 is now the preferred version, I thoroughly recommended the book!
