Invasion of the christmas puddings (0/0 people found this helpful)Bad Christmas has made poisonous Christmas puddings and he sends them to earth so people eat them. What they don't know is that when they eat them they get zombiefied and they obey everything Bad Christmas tells them to do. But who could save them and how?
The story is about when Father Christmas got tricked into eating a poisoned Christmas pudding and Mother Christmas and four children from Plumpot primary saving him from his evil brother, Bad Christmas, from taking over Christmas!!
The main character is Father Christmas who is funny, a bit idiotic and very jolly.
Then there is Bad Christmas, he is evil and wants to take over Christmas.
Finally there is Mother Christmas, she is very bossy and thinks that Father Christmas is really lazy.
It's a very funny book and I would give it 8/10. Its for both boys and girls from around 6-11.
Ho, ho, ho!! (1/1 people found this helpful) As soon as I started reading this very exciting and captivating book I wasn't able to put it down.
The main characters in this book are Father Christmas, Bad Christmas, Miss Comet, Mrs Christmas, Dylan, Amy, Lewis, Freya, Rufus and Boo Boo`s Army. Father Christmas has an evil brother called BAD Christmas who has created the most amazing Christmas puddings full of sticky matter but unfortunately when touched or eaten they zombify the recipient. His plan was to take over the world using his Christmas puddings as a weapon. Boo Boo's army are his helpers and they are armed with guns full of sticky matter. However a little girl gave Bad Christmas a doll which became a catalyst and Bad Christmas gave up his fight to take over the world. So there is a happy ending. Jeremy Strong's ambition is to make the reader laugh so his books are all very funny and this one is no exception. The funniest part from me was when Mrs Christmas crashed the sleigh and six reindeers into the roof of a school. They all fell down in a heap in with legs in the air.
Jeremy Strong has written lots of books and I would recommend them all! Rebecca
A feisty foolish Christmas Read for 5-9s (2/2 people found this helpful)Jeremy Strong excels at contemporary stories and silly humour, and in this yuletide story Father Christmas and Mrs Christmas are like a comedy double act: they call each other silly insults guaranteed to make the 5-9s smile e.g. "daft tomato" and "brainless banana". They also do foolish things such as toasting their slippers by mistake.
Father Christmas has a brother who's gone over to the OTHER side, a fifth dimension. He captains a space station called the Death Pudding which looks suspiciously like a Xmas version of StarWars's Death Star. He plans to use a secret weapon, sticky matter, disguised as Xmas pud to control mankind and get his hands on all their Christmas presents. The first step in his plan is the successful kidnap of the real Father Christmas.
However, Mrs Xmas, trying to rescue her husband, joins forces with a class of primary school children (and the pretty Miss Comet who has a sideline romance with a single Dad. Together they foil the plan and save the day.
Strong's writing style is light-hearted and conversational with lots of short chapters. The text is also broken up with black and white line drawings, the advice of a mad professor science expert every so often, and "stage directions" here and there.
This is pure silliness and festively fun! If your child likes Captain Underpants and Horrid Henry they'd love to find this in their Christmas stocking.
