Reader Reviews:How did we get here from there? (0/0 people found this helpful)If you have lived this story for the last 20 years then this book is a well written tale of the journey that we took to now. I am enjoying reading other people's perspectives and history - although some perspectives are missing. If you haven't made this journey, but are interested in the how the technopolitics and business realities of digital television started, then this is a story definitely worth reading. There is technological, business and political struggle, the EU, NewsCorp, good and not so good ideas, and heroes of engineering working to get it right. If you are newer to the industry than most of the people mentioned in these pages, buy this book; it helps to show how we got here. Authoritative work written by a key contributor (2/2 people found this helpful)This book succeeds on several levels: it is an authoritative work written by a key contributor to the digital television revolution who, for over ten years, worked closely with the relevant international R&D teams; it very accurately explains, in clear and simple language, the main technical issues and how they were solved; it provides a deep insight into how technical/scientific research is actually carried out; and, lastly, but not least, it is a cracking tale told by a master story-teller who keeps the reader interested and wanting to turn the pages. Strongly recommended. CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
