Reinhart's book is a must-read for anyone who wants to get to grips with understanding the reality that is Israel and Palestine today.

She extensively researches and catalogues the historical reality that is readily available to see in Israel and Palestine itself, but is much harder to see from the sanitised version of events here in the UK media.

She proves that the Israeli war machine has only one goal of 'anihilation' of all trace of 'Palestine' rather than the other way round. She shows us how Israeli military tacticians use the most brutal oppression towards the Palestinians and their own people, denying any possibility of a real peace between Israeli and Palestinian society for people of all religions.

She effectively demonstrates that the brutal treatment of the Palestinian people boils down to democratic principles at their most cynical - demographics. Aiming to maintain hegemony in Israel and the territories, for the elite Jewish extremists only. The Palestinian people become valid targets in a race to prevent a rise to power simply through the forces of 'keeping the numbers' down.

She demonstrates how the Israeli government doesn't want peace, and never has done. As the dominant power in a David and Goliath battle - Israel wants to keep the battle for power on military terms, because that will mean they will always win. She proves extensively through various sources how it is not Palestine that 'never' cooperate - but Israel that has never offered 'real' practical dialogue beyond the white-wash statements that are portrayed in the media. She shows how the military operations of occupation are part of a long term strategy that has only the cynical interest of removing the 'enemy' - regardless of the collateral damage that entails and the countless violations of International Law.

She catalogues how 'doves' and 'peace' negotiators are particularly seen as dangerous - to be silenced and 'assasinated' - and how violence in Palestinian areas is deliberately stirred up by violent incursions in order to justify further attack and retribution.

Anyone who cares about finding out the truth in Israel and Palestine will do well to start here.
