Reader Reviews:Less of the pep talk (3/3 people found this helpful)I would have found this book more useful if it had steered clear of the usual stuff about black people disliking their hair, and why they shouldn't. After all that 'pep talk', I was surprised to find a section at the back on how to relax children's hair. I was not interested in the personal stories either. I just wanted tips on how to wash, style and care for all types of black hair. Actually, the title is a bit of a giveaway, but this was the only near-suitable book I could find at the time. These faults aside, this book is useful. The information about different types of black hair, from identifying curly to kinky, and how to wash and condition hair is great. The illustrations on how to create the various styles are clear too. Overall, between the waffle it is an informative book which gives you some inspiration on how to create styles in your own home.
