Never visiting Edinburgh before I needed a guide book and chose this little gem! Fantastic wee book, its pocket sized and has all the information you could ever possibly need. It does just what it says on the tin!! It features: pubs, cafes, bars, restaurants, shops and gives everything honest reivews. Its full of opening times, price guides and even happy hours and dress codes. One to buy if you like me are off for a fun weekend. It doesnt however have much sightseeing advice apart from the obvious one's of Edinburgh castle and a few other little gems.

I had never heard of Itchy guides before, but when I was in Edinburgh for the first time I bought it and was delighted. The information on restaurants is well researched, and though of course it is not a comprehensive guide of all establishments in town, it gives a good overview. I followed their recommendation to the Beehive in the grassmarket, and found the pub exactly as described. The club night guide in the middle is also excellent, as it tells you exactly what kind of music you can expect where, and what the drinks and entry will cost you. Once again, the description of the club tallied completely with the real thing. There is also a guide to shopping, a two day tour and an afternoon tour for both low budget and high, a guide to take-aways (very handy), hairdressers, tourist attractions, gyms and museums. The vouchers at the end are also very useful - getting special offers on holiday is always nice. The book was really useful, and I left it with my friend who lives there, because it is also a guide for people who live there. Great, affordable stuff
