Illuminating account of CS Lewis's life (23/24 people found this helpful)

I very much enjoyed this book. It's so good to get an account of the man from one who really knew him and loved him. Lewis is such a well known and well documented figure, and his writings are deservedly famous, so it's fascinating to see behind the scenes and discover just what sort of a man he was. Answer; a brilliant mind hiding inside a scruffy, unassuming exterior. A man who was always true to himself and to God, and didn't care what others might think of him. A man who never thought to find love, but love found him late in life with joyful yet unbearably sad results. This is a man I wish I had known, and there can be no better praise of a biography than this.
