Reader Reviews:

5/5 stars

Regimental family at war (4/4 people found this helpful)

This is probably the only reliable account of the part played by 1st Bn Manchester Regiment during the Malayan Emergency between 1951 and 1954. Maps, photographs and drawings enhance the work. It should be an essential read for the casual reader, vereran, student and any professional historian researching the Malayan Emergency.

5/5 stars

Jungle Warfare (6/6 people found this helpful)

This book has a mass of interesting information regarding the largely untold story of the infantrymen fighting in the jungles of Malaya in the early 1950's. Events are described in good detail, it is almost possible to really visualise the treachourous swamps and imagine the nervewracking periods maintained in ambush positions - waiting for silent but ever present communist enemy.

A thoroughly good read with many excellent descriptive photographs taken by the author at the time.
