Having just ordered this and the beginner level book for this course by the American University in Cario ---Kullu Tamam.
I found both books to be highly sturctured. They seem to be more suited for very formal class teaching rather than self study.
This intermediate book is taughting ENTIRELY IN ARABIC SCRIPT. The only bit on English is on the cover, a few introduction pages and in the glossary at the back.
Don't buy this until you have mastered the alphabet. It didn't say in the description that script was needed. I expected there to be some script in this INTERMEDIATE book, but not completely. I am now at a loss of what to do with it until i have completed book 1, Kullu Tamam.
It seems to be full of exercises to complete...from what i can tell...i'm only just managing to recognise words so to jump entirely Arabic script...I can't do it yet.
I would recommend doing Kullu Tamam (which i am about to embark on(, BUT before that, to make yourself comfortable with the Arabic script, buy Your first 1000 words in Arabic (with CD) and the exercise book of the same name, and Read and Speak Arabic - both by the same author, and both a good introduction to recognising whole words in the script.
I believe this book is good value for money...its just it is too advanced for me at present. (i would tell you what was in it...but i can't read the headings)
