Reader Reviews:The 1st WHEEL OF TIME book i've read and its fascinating (1/1 people found this helpful)Wasn't too keen, but got "KNIFE OF DREAMS" from a Book Club recommendation and have been absolutely gripped with the storyline, and Tolkien-style maps and characters. Loved it. The story is moving on (2/2 people found this helpful)Prompted by the reviews of my fellow readers, I set out to re-read the whole Wheel of Time series (Including the prequel New Spring) before opening this 11th instalment. I think it is the best thing I could have done, because I thoroughly enjoyed the whole story and did not have to dwell on the history of various caracters.
At last we're getting somewhere (1/1 people found this helpful)I gave book 10 1 star. I approached this one with some trepidation, as I was anticipating more of the same dreariness, but lo and behold I found myself enjoying it and by the time I finished I breathed a great sigh of relief. It was MUCH better.
R.I.P Robert Jordan (6/12 people found this helpful)I write this with great sorrow for Robert Jordan and his family, it is a true loss to the world. i am a huge fan of this mammoth series and i could never understand the criticism he got for some of his books when to me it was so blatently obvious that he was just telling a masterful story and setting up new plots which wove with great intracy. i just hope that his life work gets finished in memory of light and be written as he would have liked it.my advice to people thinking of reading these books is that to not start reading and expecting action and battle's every book. my final message is may you shelter in the palm of the creators hand. Rounding the last bend... (7/7 people found this helpful) The Wheel of time series is a truly vast body of work. The plot which began fairly typicaly with a small group of key characters and a fairly clear set of objectives has broadened over the course of the seies into a mess of tangled subplots weaving around the core storyline and its primary supporting threads. This made it at times difficult to follow and lately has meant that the core plot lines failed to progress at any pace in each book.
