Danielle Steel's 52nd novel, Leap of Faith, a Cinderella-type story that begins when heroine Marie-Ange Hawkins goes from an idyllic French childhood to a loveless upbringing in Iowa after her parents and brother are killed in a terrible accident. Only 11, she's sent off to be raised by her sole relative, cold and callous great-aunt Carole. The only bright spot in her life is her intimate friendship with Billy Parker, a solid American farm boy who loves and respects her from the time they are children; she loves him, too, but thinks of him as a brother. When Marie-Ange turns 18 and wins a scholarship to go to college, her aunt does not help, but Billy buys her a car and she is able to attend. Then a stranger turns up and informs her that she is in fact a very rich woman; her aunt sells the farm, and Marie-Ange decides to return to France. There she meets the current owner of her old home, 40-year-old widower Comte de Beauchamp charming, handsome and so very polite. They fall for one another quickly (though she knows nothing about him, as Billy points out), marry within months of their first meeting and have two children. But cracks start to show in the comte's smooth, convincing exterior: it turns out that her prince charming who never pays his bills, but doesn't mind spending her money excessively, may be a murderer. Danielle Steel has written yet another excellent novel.

This is about a little girl and the path her life takes, everything
that fate throws at her some how she finds the strength to come through it.

This novel is an excellent read, and compulsive like her others I've read.

Keep up the great work Danielle your fans love your novels. :-)

I have read dozens of Danielle Steel's books, and loved many of them, but this is definitely one of the best. The author certainly retains her skill for getting the reader to really empathise with her characters. At times I felt my heart was breaking for the main character. It seems that she has lost everything everything when her loving parents tragically die. This happens again near the end of the book when she has been betrayed by a man she thought she knew and loved.

This is a lovely book. If you have liked other DS novels, you will LOVE this one, and if you have never read a Danielle Steel before-start now!

This book has got it all. A very young girl from France, looses her whole family in a tragic accident and has to move to USA with her aunt who does not show any affection. When she finds out her dad had left her millions in his will she decides to go back to France. She meets the man that brought her parents house... she falls in love and marries him and has his children. Then it all goes wrong. He tries to spend all her money and when she finds out, he tries to kill her and the children... very sad, very touching, very realistic.... short book but good read!

This was a very moving book, which tells of the life of Marie-Ange Hwakins, a very priveledged child who lives an idyllic life near Paris with her much loved parents and brother, until fate takes control and turns her life upside down. After a tragic car accident that claims the lives of all of her family, she is left with her elderly housekeeper who unfortunately is unable to care for the child, so she is sent to live with her cold hearted aunt in America. Here she learns about mean spiritedness but also love from her best friend Billy. Through some good fortune, after living with her aunt for several years, she is able to move back to her beloved France. She falls in love with a Count and shares her inheritance with him, only to discover he has a very dark sinister side to him which nearly costs Marie-Ange and her two children their lives. Fortunately there is a happy ending for Marie-Ange, but with a hard lesson learnt about trust and love. Another excellent and gripping story from the worlds best fictional author.
