A Prolific Imprisonment (0/0 people found this helpful)

Allowed to nominate one recipient for his letters from prison, Havel chose his wife, Olga. The reader journeys with Havel as he comes to terms with the heavy restrictions on prison letters, and finds a way through them from the mundane worries of his driving license renewal to philosophical monologues on his writings, the purpose of his imprisonment and, amazingly, veiled critique of the regime which passes the censor. A very interesting insight into a formative time for this artist turned politician.
