Reader Reviews:WOW (3/3 people found this helpful)I was too young to have lived through the Osmond era, I only knew Donny from singing in Joseph and as the boy who sang Puppy Love but this book was brilliant. So, why should you buy it? Firstly i couldn't put it down. The book moves between his funny times and the sad times of his life. It makes you realise that whatever you are going through, he made it, and so can we all. An inspiration to everyone, whether you loved or hated Donny Osmond. unputable read (6/8 people found this helpful)i also like many other people read this book within two days. i normally dont read that much but i could not put this one down. i was up until 2 am reading it. this story shows a side of donny osmond people reaaly didnt know about for example his social phobia and his sometimes violent temper. this book showsdoony osmond is a real person and not just an entertainer. if you buy this book you will not want to put it down and when you do finnish reading it you will want to read it again and again and again. you could get hooked! A must for every Osmond fan (10/10 people found this helpful)This is a truly inspirational book, Donny takes us through the joy and heartache of his childhood, growing up in the shadow of his famous brothers only to get caught up in the showbiz whirl, while still wanting to remain a child himself. To the heady days of the 70s when he was on nearly every teenage girls bedroom wall. He talks with great love and passion for his wife and his family and the anxiety of his social phobia during his triumphant return to acting in 'Joseph'. It really is a must for every Osmond fan, it shows a side of Donny we never knew existed. Absorbing reading (11/11 people found this helpful)Having always been a fan of Donny Osmond since the early 70s, I had my eyes well and truely opened when I read this book. It was well written and an absorbing read that took you behind the "image" looking inside the man, his achievements, his ideals and his weaknesses. My partner (who I might add was never an Osmond fan) also read this book and couldn't put it down either! The joy and pain and joy and pain of Donny Osmond (2/2 people found this helpful)A very honest portrait of a star who was tossed aside when the world of show business decided it had had enough of Donny. The most interesting part of this portrait is the pain Donny experienced throughout his life, which is more apparent through what's not written than what is. He's so easy to like. Biggest disappointment is that there is not a big enough emotional catharsis. He seemed to get over his anxiety disorder rather quickly, although in real life, I'm sure it was a painful road to recovery. Also, my only question was --- if he was bankrupt and didn't have any money coming in, how did he support his family and who paid for his travel around the country? It never seemed that Donny was ever down and out --- just not in the celebrity limelight. Still, this is a great read and makes you want to call Donny up on the phone and invite him over for a piece of cake.
