Very disappointing (0/0 people found this helpful)

I found this very inadequate and confusing. For instance, the gender of nouns is not given, nor the third person forms of verbs, which allocates the verb to type 1, 2 or 3 and allows you to work out the rest of the tenses and persons. The choice of vocabulary is strange, and when you try to check back on the different meanings of words the synonyms are often not included. In my opinion do not waste your money. Spend a bit more and get a more adequate dictionary with grammatical notes and more consistency.

Disappointing but better than nothing (3/3 people found this helpful)

The book is certainly a handy size - pocket sized. But there are some glaring omissions - the introduction says it is good for Ttravellers, business people and students - but it doesn't include 'hello', good morning/afternoon/day - in fact I can find no greeting at all. Not good for travellers or business people. Also toilet and lavatory are not included. I know as an american book it does not include English usage - but I am not convinced that my Lithuanian colleagues will understand when I ask for the 'bathroom' - it would be very helpful to have toilet or WC or lavatory in reserve if 'bathroom is not understood. Interestingly the lithuanian word for 'room' is not in the Lithuanian section. Strange. However it does include funeral and xylograph - which I am sure will be useful as a business traveller!

I also do not think that the phonetic guide is very good. e.g. it says that the Lithuanian 'a' is pronounced as in 'must' but when looking in the dictionary the pronunciation for words containing 'a' show the pronunciation as 'a' - which another part of the guide says is pronounced as in 'act'. Not well constructed. However the print and layout are very clear and uncluttered. Disappointing but better than nothing!

Excellent source for phrases and common questions. (0/1 people found this helpful)

Handy source for phrases and common questions. Also, has excellent phonetic guide. Uses "upper-class" language rather than common.
