Living & Working in Australia (2/2 people found this helpful)

I recentley purchased this book with a view of moving out to Oz, all the information that I have gleaned from this admiral title has helped me make up my mind,to make a trip out to see if the country is as inviting as I feel it is from the concise info in this book,
Thank you to David Hampshire for all his research which has saved endless hours of internet searching

No need to spend 6 months Googling (2/2 people found this helpful)

I'm sure it's possible to find every fact in this or any similar book by your own efforts, but my family and I were impressed by how easy it was to see the differences between Oz and New Zealand, the other country we were interested in, so thank you for not one but two brilliant books that set out all the pros and cons. Now for the look-see visit!

'THE' book to buy on Oz... (0/0 people found this helpful)

I bought this fourth edition a while ago and it is worth every penny, in my opinion if it isn't in this book then the information isn't out there!! David Hampshire's writing is easy to understand and I now have a book full of markers for the bits I will really need on my new venture, (which is practically every page!). Bravo!!!

Nothing you can't find on Google... (7/10 people found this helpful)

I bought this book based on the fact that it was only just published in June 2007, yet some of the information is wrong/out of date (for example it states you can only work for one employer for 3 months. This was changed in 2006 to be 6 months).

This book contains very little information that you can't easily find on Google for free.

If you've never been to Australia and are considering emmigrating, then this might be useful. If you've been before on holiday or know how to use a PC (yep, you're using one now to read this review), then everything in this book can easily be found on the Internet for free.

The author doesn't even live in Australia - he resides in Switzerland !!
