This book whilegreat at times spends way to much page space on the basics and by the time your prepared to buy a £600 software package I guess you should already know but if you want something that will hold your hand all of the way this is ideal.

I bought a copy of this book weeks ago and I am STILL waiting for the hardware key to unlock the 30 day demo disc that the book ships with. It seem that Apple didn't supply enough to the publisher! I wouldn't have bought this book if I had known there would be a problem. If you already own Logic 6 then I'm sure it will be useful to some but it's a training manual without the tools to train. Very bad on the part of Apple.

The book is organized to provide a hands-on learning experience. It is well organized, well written, and to-the-point. Do not expect any entertainment value. The illustrations are good and the print quality excellent, reminiscent of a quality university textbook. Potential buyers should be aware that the demo version of Logic 6 included with the book requires OS X 10.2 or higher, is good for 30 days, and requires you to request a hardware key from Peachpit Press. Though the book claims to be designed for you to follow the course "at your own pace", whether this is possible for many readers given the 30-day constraint is very questionable. In addition, as of 25/7/04 there was a backlog of orders for the keys, because Apple had not provided enough of them. The buyer should allow 3 weeks for delivery outside the U.S. There is a number you can call should your key not arrive within 5 weeks. It seems to me this information should be made available to those buying on the Internet, as otherwise it comes as a surprise upon receiving the book.
