Reader Reviews:Truely inspirational (1/1 people found this helpful)This is the best book I have read in many years. It touched my heart so very much. I could not put the book down. Every page is gripping. When you read a book like this and to find that the author has succefully come out the other side and has gone on to successfully raise three children, it makes you realise there is hope in the world.
Couldn't Put it Down! (0/0 people found this helpful)An excellent read - very upsetting but also inspiring - Martha's tale is extroadinarily evocative of a time and place....and her wit and courage is truly humbling. Like others have said, I would love to know what happens later on - lets have a sequal soon! Heart stopping, heart sinking and full of hope. (0/0 people found this helpful)So many of these memoirs that I have read border on an almost tedious predictability. However poor Martha's wretched start in life is so frightening and yet filled with humour that leaves you laughing and crying at the same time.
