Reader Reviews:De-mystified Mac for me (7/7 people found this helpful)I've maintained my PC for the past 6 years or so, and while watching it's slow decline I've often thought about switching to Mac. I use Macs at work, but have never got to grips with them. If my PC breaks I just get the screwdriver out and have tinker around inside, but if a Mac breaks I come out in a cold sweat. I am, in short, totally clueless about Macs. I can use the programs fine, because I learned them on a PC, but Mac OS? Not a chance. This book has lifted the fear of ignorance, and saved me. I got it before I got my Mac, and found the way it explained everything I could ever want to know surprisingly refreshing. It has everything in it, from understanding the way in which Tiger was written and the basic principles of preeemptive multitasking, to working out what purpose of Finder is, and why they ever bothered putting it in. I had expected a very dry account, but it has a light heartedness about the style, which means you can read chapter after chapter without feeling bogged down. I now have the confidence to have a play with my Mac and know that if I do something wrong, I will always be able to put it right. If you already know about PCs and want to know more about Macs, or if you're a Mac user and want to understand all Tiger's ins and outs, I recomend this book without reservation.
