Reader Reviews:Endorsement (1/1 people found this helpful)I guess most people run only one marathon race, and therefore only buy one marathaon manual. This one is heartily recommended. It explains the mechanics of running a marathon from your body's point of view, while covering every possible aspect you might have questions about, and providing a couple of different training schedules. The section on nutrition/diet was especially good. Overall the idea of an amateur and a professional co-writing a book works well. A manual for beginners and inprovers (14/18 people found this helpful)This book covers all aspects of the training required in the run up to the marathon. Both authors share their experiences learned along the way. Their contrasting experience works to make this book a rounded manual. Liz McColgan is a true expert whilst Cathy Shipton is a total beginner just like me, starting from scratch and going on to complete her marathon. This is a comprehensive guide and leaves no area of running and marathon preparation uncovered. CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
