Perhaps a little dated, but many of the recommendations for restarants still stand the test of time. The maps are poor (as other reviewers commented). We supplemented this book with a decent map and the combination was fine.

The layout, keys and general text I found to be interesting and for the most part usually friendly. However the costs for admission and taxis are out of date and the maps have only little representation to the actual. In defence google earth/maps seems to be the only way to find an acurate map. A section on the best places to find taxis and the French occupation would have also been useful.

This book does contain a lot of useful information but is, judging by the appalling clichéd style, aimed at people still stuck in a 1960's world where hammering artisans 'pound out a funky beat'(What does that adjective mean?), and you are instructed to 'dig the cross-dressing belly dancers'. I often couldn't find the truth behind this dated, patronising nonsense and by the end of the trip felt like hurling the book from our hotel window. The maps are also, only adequate, so you're better off buying a separate map too. My advice to you is to buy it only because you have no other choice, and my advice to Alison Bing is to stick to the research and let someone else do the writing.

Only someone who has not been to Marrakesh can complain about the book. I just used it with 2 friends to spend 5 days in this wonderful city and it was truly thorough, giving us some great itineraries to eat, shop and use the Imams (get the exfoliating massage) without getting lost in the maze of the Old City or the Souks. A most definite buy if you are going. And by all means do go.

Very disappointed in the maps in this guide. Looks like 8 point font in medium green colour printed on a background of light green. I can't read this now - and am not keen to try with sunglasses in the Moroccan sunshine. - As bad as a London tube map in your tiny diary. This puts me off buying on-line. If I'd seen this, I would not have bought it.
