Reader Reviews:Old Fashioned Cooking At It's Best (1/1 people found this helpful)This book is a wonderful example of a traditional cookbook, one that looks like its been lying around for decades. It's been made to look like the original cookbook the recipes came from tattered up and stains and all, and really makes the book appealing even before you get to the wonderful hand written style recipes inside.
Tatties, mince n neep! (0/1 people found this helpful)I just love this book, the recipes are sooo easy and every one knows them. No posh nosh here! I have tried the lorne sausage (its brill) and have made skirlie(A'body loved it!) The small writings on each page from the bairns, hen and the twins are hilarious, usually ripping the p out of daphne! This book sits proudly on my shelf above my cooker. Its got everything a young housewife would need to start cooking basic family meals. I think this book would be a great wedding present to any young couple. Maw Broon Magic (1/1 people found this helpful)Bought my wife this at Christmas and she loves it, even though she isn't the Broons fan that I am. Highly recommended if you like your cookbooks to have more than a wee bit of character! Cures the homesickness (3/3 people found this helpful)I returned from my honeymoon in the Philippines back to my place of business in Korea last week. I discovered a christmas gift mailed from my father on my table. THE book!
From a non Scot... BRILLIANT! (3/3 people found this helpful)I was vaguely aware of 'The Broons' but had never read a single comic strip or annual. On a recent trip to the Highlands I bought this book because I am a big fan of cooking and baking... wow!
