Editorial Review:

Colourful, informative and easily accessible to even the most novice of players, Michael Owen's Soccer Skills (subtitled How to Become the Complete Footballer) may not have you basking in the glory of international acclaim by the time you're 18, but it will certainly help you improve your game.

Colour photographs, illustrations and step-by-step pointers on all the basic skills give you the grounding to get out on the pitch and get going.

From kicking, passing, shooting, dribbling and volleying to more surprising inclusions such as a chapter on defending (Michael admits this is the biggest lesson he had to learn--defending from the front), this is the complete manual for the players and coaches of young teams.

Action-packed photographs of Michael in action for both his club and his country, and sections on his extraordinary career so far, ensure this is aimed fairly and squarely at the young Owen follower. However, there is plenty in there for anyone merely wishing to improve their game and the discerning can skip the idol worship for good, hard facts on how to do exactly that. --Lucie Naylor

A pocket sized book full of information. (10/11 people found this helpful)

When this book arrived for my son I thought "It's a bit small" but after reading the information inside I've realised that it is full of information supporting the soccer training that my son does on a weekly basis. It contains nearly 200 pages of clear and concise instructions as well as excellent pictures and a brief biography of how Michael Owen started in football. This book covers everything you can think of and I have seen books twice the size with only half the information you will find here. Because it is Pocket sized I can see that this book will be well used which is of course the reason for buying it. If you need a football training book buy it now (from the excellent Amazon of course)

Great training book!!! (1/1 people found this helpful)

I found this book to be quite useful in picking up the skills involved in the game of soccer. I trained the way described in the book and noticed improvement after about 2 weeks. Excellent book, should also buy "Play the Brazilian Way" to further compliment this book.
