Yes, you'll need some back up books, but this book really is superb and very, very well written, so much so that I read it in a day, just because it was so hilarious and enjoyable to read.

If you're a beginner I don't think you could find a more witty, informative and genuinely interesting book to get you started. Even though it's not really a cover-to-cover book I did read it all in one sitting anyway.
