Reader Reviews:I think this book is remarkable. (2/2 people found this helpful)I think this book shows good thought of how there is always hope. Her book tells what she is today after suffering such misery and hopeless despair.Yet I do believe that I Have Lived a Thousand Years in The Holocaust is much more gripping to your heart, lungs ,and soul. Yet this book is remarkable .It`s worth reading if you significantly want to learn about what it is like to get back on task after such misory, pain, agony, and horrifing memories. This book pales in comparison with her earlier work. (1/2 people found this helpful)"My Bridges of Hope" did not move me. It is basically a recital of the experiences of Livia Bitton-Jackson after she, her mother and her brother were liberated in 1945. The wonderful writing of "I Have Lived a Thousand Years" is not in evidence here. Bitton-Jackson's writing in this book has a bland quality. Occasionally, she resorts to cliches, forced similes and overdone metaphors. The only reason to read this memoir is to satisfy one's curiosity about Elli Friedmann's life after the Holocaust. The writing is ordinary, not passionate. This is too bad, but in a sequel, almost inevitable. It would have been quite an accomplishment to recapture the passion and poignancy of "I Have Lived a Thousand Years". Unfortunately, it didn't happen.
