Utterly fantastic! (0/0 people found this helpful)

I loved it! This is classic Roald Dahl; humorous, witty, a little saucy but in an oh so British way and ofcourse a good twist at the end of the book. I ploughed through this book it was so good - I just couldn't put it down - it was fantastic. Definitely one I'll read again, just not for a while as it seems to be doing the rounds with my friends who all love it just as much!

excellently devious. (0/0 people found this helpful)

This book is a fantastic read for any people whom enjoy divulging in a raunchy, enjoyable, and funny book.
With roald dahl's natural wit and flow, its a book which is hard to put down, and frankly i cannot fault it.
The fact that it isnt challenging adds to the magic of the book, and simply allows the reader to sit there captivated, laughing out loud.
The storyline itself certainly gave me a reminder of Dahls outstanding childrens books, but obviously turned into a much more mature plot.
The fact that the book is written in this way i feel gives it simply a new genre of 'adult child'
excellent to read and laugh at the immaturity of, but you wouldnt want to read it to a ten year old!

A hidden treasure (2/2 people found this helpful)

I encountered this book amongst a row of uninspiring hardbacks in my girlfriend's aunts spare bedroom when we were visiting her in the Cotswalds last year. I had been suffering from a spot of unfamiliar-bed-insomnia and needed something to while away the hours. I believe a made a prudent choice in picking up 'My Great Uncle Oswald' as opposed to 'A Kiss in the Desert' by Barbara Cartland

It is hilarious; a fabulous romp of a book!

I'd only ever read Roald Dahl's childrens fiction but this has opened my eyes to a whole world of hidden treasures

If you only buy one Roald Dahl book about uncles this year then make sure that this is the book you buy!

vulgar, bad taste (3/35 people found this helpful)

As a huge fan of Dahl, My Uncle Oswald was a great dissapointment... The first Oswald episode about sinai desert was superb, but this one and others are of bad taste and crude quality. If you're a fan of Dahl, don't read this!

Sauce? (15/15 people found this helpful)

Very saucy, very funny...I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a book so much. Dahl has woven this story very cleverly and quite frankly he could write an interesting story blindfolded, upside down with his hands tied behind his back. He is always full of ideas and this novel is no exception. Wonderful!
