For many western companies China appears difficult and impenetrable. Chee's book is full of insight and offers practical advice. This can only come from someone who has perpectives of both East and West. His central argument is that to succeed in the Chinese market you need to understand chinese culture and the 'rules' of engagement. Failure to understand them can result in expensive commercial failures. The book uses the 'myth' or misconception approach and then counters it with the 'realities' of the Chinese market. It explores key cultural concepts like 'face,'harmony,' 'guanxi,' (relationships), etc . The book is very well written and is a must for those who wish to enter the middle kingdom
without losing their shirt!
