Reader Reviews:An Interesting Half term's read (1/1 people found this helpful)Ever looked at the Lochness website? The Surgeon's photograph (1934) is the most famous sighting of Nessie to date. It has withstood the test of time and thorough scientific examination over the past sixty years. Who would question the credibility of the camera of a well-respected 1930's London gynaecologist? Martin and Boyd have done just that. Some simple detective work has led them to expose the real story. The monster is nothing more than a toy submarine with a wooden head - the cleverly designed hoax of an actor/filmaker of the time. Martin and Boyd discovered that the surgeon and the hoaxer had a mutual friend. The trail led to a man of nearly ninety living on the South Coast who revealed the secrets he had kept for more than half a century. This book I admit is the first non-fiction book I have read in a long time. I found it to be well-written - scientific but not too formal - and enjoyed the photos that support the text. I could not put it down! (1/1 people found this helpful)This book is a must for anybody that is interested in Loch Ness and the mystery that lies below its surface. Written with humour and a human edge guaranteed to make you think twice before you believe more easily next time! CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
