Using this in an introductory course into Network security, I found the first few chapters of this book excellent for an introduction into the way things worked like encryption and general security issues. However as the book goes on, it does get quite advanced so beware!

I have found this book as a good tutorial for Network Security. Text is easy to read and follow. Covers both basic and advanced subjects. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs to understand the new, widely used concepts of network security.
