When a man is technically insolvent, and his solution is to build himself a yacht and spend two years pottering round the Mediterranean as an economy drive, that man needs to be read about. This is a lovely and surprising book, well-researched and sumptuously illustrated; it is not just for the historians among us, but anyone who has a passing interest in the bizarre ways of the aristocracy.
