I'm a retired teacher (through ill health) and this is by far the best reading scheme I have come across. I'm using it alongside the schools reading scheme with my little boy and he absolutely loves it.
Highly recommended. The stories are lovely and children get very attached to the characters.

Enjoyable set of first reader books with detailed accompanying notes. My 4 year old enjoyed the colourful illustrations and the amusing subject matter held his interest well. We enjoyed discussing shadows, camping and making pancakes and the practical follow-on opportunities really helped him to relate to the stories. Making pancakes ourselves, like Biff and Chip, was a real hit! This set was a great introduction for new readers to the principles of reading and book terminology (i.e. cover, page, working from left to right etc)The few words at the bottom of each page also gave my son the feeling of beginning to read - a great motivater!
