Reader Reviews:Best ever wine book (4/4 people found this helpful)Have been buying books about wine for 25 years. This is one of the best books I have read for a long time. Very good for first timers, read the section on wine types etc. Excellent reviews of the worlds wine regions for those with more knowledge. In all an excellent book. A New Interest! (6/6 people found this helpful)One-line summary - A new interest ...engaging and easy to read. (2/2 people found this helpful)Getting your hands on wine books that don't condescend on the one hand, or blind you with science on the other, isn't as easy as it should be. To its credit, this book walks that thin line with chutzpah. Oz Clarke's writing is engaging and easy to read. The book covers the major wine producing regions, country-by-country, and region-by-region, with information on grape varieties, classification, vintages, how to read wine labels and, importantly, what the wines from that region actually taste like. Sadly, though, the design of the book is looking distinctly 1980s with dull typography and bland coloured panels. CategoriesAmazon.co.uk places this book into the following categories:
