Great tasty authentic Indian food (1/1 people found this helpful)

Well I have had this book for about three years and only just started to use the recipes, wish I had sooner they are great.
You do need to buy some good Indian spices loads online Ive used spice world which has a good selection. For the popular spices I would get the 500g containers.

A good grounding in curry cuisine (3/4 people found this helpful)

This book introduces the reader to some of the most popular curries and side dishes. The recipes presented are quite detailled and the reader should have or be prepared to buy quite a range of spices for even the most basic of curries. That said, the recipes are clear to follow and produce good results. The book is well presented with a good selection of quality images of the food. A good feature is the inclusion of a selection of side dishes and dips to accompany a meal.

Even Suitable for Novice Cooks :-) (4/4 people found this helpful)

I'm a professional programmer, but a lousy cook. However, this book is absolutely *fantastic* for those who want to cook proper curries from fresh ingredients - no matter what their culinary skills.

The books covers everything you need to know, and more, including equipment, ingredients, techniques, and the recipes - as well as some excellent background information such as the history of particular dishes, regional variations and lavish photographs. If someone like me can make a tasty Lamb Keema just by following this book, so can you! :-)

A Fantastic reference for Beginners and Experts (2/3 people found this helpful)

The Curry Bible is not only a fantastic recipe book but it also covers useful and interesting reference material (types of spices and what they are used for etc) and is beautifully written with excellent full colour pictures. I drool slightly whenever I look at the cover page!

Excellent for beginer and experienced wanna be chefs!!! (3/3 people found this helpful)

I am a total novice when it comes to cooking curries. However, I found it really easy to follow the recepies in this well organised book. This book however is not your normal recipe book, it contains very interesting sections on the history of the various cuisines found throughout India and surrounding countries. It also has very useful sections on each page refering to the various spices and herbs that are used within the different dishes throughout the book.

No budding Curry chef should be without it!!!
