Reader Reviews:Readable (2/4 people found this helpful)I have been reading Tom Wright's series with interest, as much Biblical commentary for lay people is pretty old. His books offer an approachable way into looking at scriptures with which the reader may not be familiar, but I do find them a little disappointing. The chunk-by-chunk approach he takes (he offers a discussion after every few verses) doesn't lend itself to looking at themes across the letters particularly well, let alone contrasting these letters with other parts of the Bible. More concerningly, from my point of view, the urge to make things understandable can lead him to retreat to some pretty conservative positions - for example, on the relative roles of men and women.
