Reader Reviews:good solid information (0/0 people found this helpful)I agree with the previous comment that this book is best suited to people that actually do penetration testing. Some of the information would not make much sense to those that are looking to get into the field.
Good coverage of some great free, open source tools.. (5/5 people found this helpful)What this book will NOT teach you is how to go about penetration testing! It is for people who already know what they are trying to achieve. The book covers open source tools to address some of the main stages of a pentest. Many of the tools whilst free are still used by both testers who have large budgets, and those that do not. For example Metasploit gives the premium offerings a run for their money. Likewise Nessus has long earned a place in any pentesters toolbox. Most of the tools are featured on the included live CD 'Auditor' which has now combined with 'Whax' to form 'Backtrack'.
