Reader Reviews:Learn fast with practical examples. CD alone is worth the price. (6/6 people found this helpful)I was new to photoshop (less than a few hours experience) but having recently bought a Digital SLR I wanted to pick up some fast and useful advice. Can't remember why I picked this particular book, probably cos it was fairly cheap and I'd read a decent enough review. The book is easy to read and is loaded with full colour pics to show you how the different functions in photoshop work. The narrative is simple and to the point. The CD that comes with the book has all the stock photos required for the different projects and also has some great movie tutorials. If you can't be bothered working through a lot of the written examples just play the movies and follow along with photoshop. The CD alone is woth the money I paid for the book. If anyone has experince of the "Digital Photo Magazine" cd tutorials then these are at least as good. I've gone from been a complete novice to creating accurate masks and selctions, blending layers and using filters effectively in about a week of 1 hour long sessions. Oh and I've never felt complelled to right a review for any other book I've bought. If your spending hundreds of pounds on image editing software then you could do far worse than spending a few quid on this book. "Essential Skills" an Essential for your Library (24/24 people found this helpful)In a market literally bursting at the seams with publications purporting to answer all your questions about CS2, this book is a standout in that it actually delivers on its promises. Clear, concise and exhibiting a true "just the facts, Ma'am" style, it's a comprehensive wrap up of the ins and outs of Adobe's latest version. The tutorials and explanations are spot on, the companion CD and web referrals extremely helpful and the book itself is almost a work of art due to high production standards and terrific images. Philip Andrews and Mark Galer know what they're talking about and it shows. Don't leave it too long to get hold of this one.
