Worth Buying For 'Popcorn' (1/1 people found this helpful)

Anyone who's read the novel 'Popcorn' will know how brilliant the plot, dialogue and characters are. To see the book brought to life on stage is a great experience, if only to see how the expansive story in the novel was adapted into play material.

Of course, if you can't get to see the show, this book is worth getting. The 'Popcorn' script, whilst no where near the brilliance of the novel, is a riveting read, whether you're a fan of the book or not. Both hilariously funny and compellingly dramatic, the brilliant, satirical story is more intelligent than you'd expect from the writer of 'The Young Ones'. The other two plays are good, strong scripts based around interesting ideas with witty dialogue, but it's Popcorn that's worth purchasing this book for.

Highly recommended.

WOW! If only all plays were this good. I haven't felt so moved since 'The Crucible'-Arthur Miller. Ben Elton is a modern day genius (no I am not him or his mother!) Throw those dusty old Shakespears away and READ THIS!

there was a time when the grass was green and the sky was blue. there was also a time when ben elton made me laugh out loud in uncontrollable fits and spurts. the time has gone, but can be retreived................................................

nice otherwise.
