I bought this book for my daughter who is studying A Level french. It has everything and more that she needs and she has found it invaluable. The only reason for 4 stars is that, like everyone else has said, it is by no means pocket sized, but quite a hefty book. Highly recommended though as the prob the best french dictionary out there.

I have no complaints with the content of this dictionary - the words are clearly defined and useful idioms appear at the end of the definitions. But it is far too big to be a pocket dictionary and the pages in mine are starting to fall out after a few months' use. This means that it is hardly a reference book to keep at home either. Very disappointing indeed and I would not have bought it had I known.

This Hachette is comprehensive and really easy to use. I purchased it for the Open University French course. You would need a large pocket sizewise to accommodate it but it is no drain on the pocket and the price is excellent. Very good value.

This was a great dissapointment, especially from a reputable publisher like oxford dictionaries. The quality of the "binding" is deplorable and more and more pages keep becoming detached. this stared almost as soon as I started using the dictionary. This is obviously unacceptable in a referance book whick one would hope to be able to be usable for years!

A word of warning, this book is not exactly a pocket edition. I've just received my copy today and it is huge. I was expecting a handy pocket dictionary, but instead it is a mighty 8" x 5" and 2" thick.
It may well be a great dictionary, but don't expect to carry it around in your pocket. Hence, 4 Stars for the misleading title.
