A Brilliant Quick Reference Guide (5/5 people found this helpful)
I have purchased several polish phrase books and dictionaries recently and found this one by far the best. It is compact, 'user friendly', produced on quality paper and inexpensive. As a busy primary school teacher I need resources which are quick and easy to access. The book is divided into sections, the first few containing phrases, numbers, days, months and so on - as one would expect from this type of book. However, it is the content, presentation and layout of the following sections which impresses me most in the book. Naturally, the categories include subjects like shopping, health, telephones, hotels, driving. Each of these are divided into 4 sections; 1.A few general sentences, 2.Related useful words and phrases, 3.Things you'll hear, and 4.Things you'll see. The last two sections impress me most as they help to raise awareness before travel or using the language. They are also presented in separate coloured areas which makes them stand out more amongst the useful phrases. I know a few children (aged 8/9 years) in my school who have also purchased this phrase book. They find it very easy to navigate through the various sections to find what they are looking for. We will use the phrase book as a resource in school for many years to come, communicating through e mail and letters to Polish friends. We will also be carrying our phrase books in our pockets when we travel to our twin town in Poland later this year!
