Excellent book to to make you understand the AR,ER,IR verbs as well as SER and ESTAR, which are commonly used in the Spanish language. A must for anyone studying Spanish as a beginner.

I have both Spanish Verb Tenses and Pronouns and Prepositions...

Both books are EXCELLENT. I am currently living in Mexico so fully immersed and have been to University language schools and seem to struggle. Much grammar simply doesn't exist in English, so explanations are rarely given by native speakers / teachers. These books explain HOW Spanish speakers think, rather than needing to learn by rote or endless rules. This means you have a better grasp on feeling your way through.

My opinion is that you need 100% understanding of grammar, which means clear explanations, (at to begin with) in your own language. These are supplied here, simply and clearly before the exercises.

The examples and chapters are well laid out, progressive in their approach introducing vocabulary too, not just the grammar.

As it says on the tin, practice is the key to the progression and there is lots of it here too.

The books are a little drab in appearance but are a kind of mix of exercise and text book without the frills. I think they are all the better for this (i.e. no cheesy and pointless pictures of people eating tacos or paella etc.)

These books make my head hurt. Not in a frustrating way, but in a way that makes you feel that new connections are being made in your head. You have to put in some serious work, but you are totally supported and feel like you are actually making headway.

I feel I am learning more, in a shorter time, without going to school. A basic understanding of Spanish however is needed before you can begin. They use the peninsular (non S.American) Spanish which is fine so long as you understand the differences (in this case vosotros vs ustedes).

I'm studying Spanish with Open University, am currently between courses and needed something to keep me going and practising between them! I ordered this book not realising how much I would benefit from it. It explains things in detail and keeps it interesting. There are plenty of exercises per section and really helps things stick in your mind without having to just read and read over the same thing!
Would definately recommend this book if your learning Spanish on your own or if like myself are studying in school/ uni!!
