This small book at 128 pages is a useful introduction to Prague. It lists all the main sights with opening times and costs, some lesser knwon sights, and some useful information on eating and shopping in the city. It is not comprehensive (otherwise it wouldn't be called a pocket guide) but it does contain a total of 8 useful maps on the front and back cover.

Its size is its most appealing point, easily carried into your pocket or handbag. And with enough information for a short trip, explains why it is the best selling guide.

It has something really good, if you want to eat in a good restaurant or sleep in a good-value hotel you just have to avoid the advices in the guide, your changes will increase.

This guide book (and I use the word guide loosely) was a waste of money. The general layout is OK but the pictorial additions and the maps were more than useless. Most of the bars/restaurant/cafés listed in this guide book are the worst places in Prague. I went on holiday to Prague for the third time in Jan 2005, I barely used the book at all. Yes, it features all the usual famous sights - Charles Bridge, Astronomical Clock, Palaces etc. but these are all clearly signposted in the City anyway! And every hotel is littered with leaflets that show maps of tourist sights. The only good thing about this book is the size - small enough to fit in your pocket - but sadly, once it is in your pocket, it might not see the light of day ever again!
