5/5 stars

The first in an eternally funny series (3/3 people found this helpful)

If ever I'm in need of a hearty chuckle or even a rotund belly laugh there are two options. Watch one of the following DVD's- Alan Partridge, Blackadder or any of the "Have I Got News For You" ones I own - But as my kids are usually hogging the bloody DVD watching "Wrestlemania 407" or "Scooby Doo and the mystery of the haunted broom cupboard "I have to plunder the book shelf's for comedic inspiration Thus I constantly refer back to my beloved collection of Private Eyes "Colemanballs".
Divided in sections, Politics, Royalty and the various sports there are a number of true fuddled brain classics in amongst this original collection. Particular favourites of mine include the immortal Murray Walker: "I make no apologies for their absence .I'm sorry they're not here". Tony Blackburn: "It's so easy to have a fatal accident and ruin your life". John Motson:"so different from the scenes in 1872, at the final that none of us can remember". Mike Ingham: "Thank you for evoking memories-particularly of days gone by"." Sid Waddell: "Only one word for that, magic darts" Gary Davis: "And how long have you had this life long ambition?"
And of course if you don't like one quote, not to worry there will be another one along in about half an inch. Every one of the Colemanballs books is 100 pages of paper that s worth it, s weight in gold...as Brian Moore might say. Plus it has some terrific cartoons by Larry. Eternally amusing and acts as a sort of potted history of the personalities around at any one particular time. Last word( nearly) must go to Mr Coleman: "He just can't believe what's not happening to him"
Genius......of sorts.
