Reader Reviews:The essential companion to Mysql. (0/0 people found this helpful)I have to admit that up to this point I've only read a small proportion of the book (albeit in different sections). However I've got nearly 20 years experience of using relational databases and during that time I've needed to access a lot of reference books. This book is as good as any I've come across, and is a goldmine for the serious developer and/or administrator. It's particularly useful for those upgrading to version 5 Mysql and who need to use the new features. So, I've given this book a 5 rating. You may not need all the contents (although it's been written in a way that you will find all sections interesting) and yes, given enough time and another version of mysql parts of the book may become out-of-date. But, for anyone who needs the ultimate reference book for Mysql in 2008, this manual has to be the essential choice. Something Different, but essential (4/4 people found this helpful)With the release of MySQL 5.0 the database MySQL raised the bar to a new level. The introduction of Stored Procedures, triggers and views allowed more development potential and made the database community take another look at MySQL.
