A Good Start (0/0 people found this helpful)

I've spent hours looking through the forums, reading tutorials etc. and have now read 90 pages of this book. I wish I had bought the book sooner. It introduces the terminology everyone takes for granted as well as the concepts behind Ogre. It's not 'Pro' Ogre programming, it's a good start for those who are really interested and have researched the subject a bit.

Pro Ogre3d Programming (13/14 people found this helpful)

This is a great book for those interested in learning ogre and 3d graphics. Most of my energy has been spent reading the ogre forum, guessing, and posting questions infrequently. Since the Ogre community is very friendly, all of the questions I've had have been answered quickly. Unfortunately I usually don't know what questions to ask. This book helps fill in the fuzzy areas by providing a solid foundation of every aspect of the engine and has insightful tips from a veteran.

The book does not include the full source for any program, but instead shows the relevant portions. This is probably sufficient, however it would be nice to have a website where the entire source of the examples could be found.

Note: I would not recommend this book to someone who is not already quite comfortable with c++. Ogre is a large project and the subject matter is complicated enough that knowing the basic tools is absolutely necessary.
