Reader Reviews:The best Source songbook ever! (2/2 people found this helpful)This book is a must for anyone interested in popular/folk/acoustic music. As an acoustic guitarist/singer it has proved invaluable to me. it has more songs than you can ever hope to play and sing. If you are going to buy a songbook make it this one! The best song book I always wished I had! (2/2 people found this helpful)This book has, it seems, it all! All the words to all those fun songs that I have heard, sang when I was a kid, that my dad sang when he was a kid, and more. I really felt I had found a jewel when I found this at the library and now of course am rushing to have my own copy. You'll sing your heart out and finally know all the words (0/0 people found this helpful)I love to sing all types of songs, but when I came across this book, I thought I had died and gone to song heaven. 90% of my favorites were included (and I know a lot of songs)and it's great to have them all in one place. The catagories are many and the print is easy to read. Plus, you get chords, which I appreciate since I play an autoharp. The cross references to other catagories at the end of each section is useful also. I have used this songbook at many, many singalongs and hope that someday, they will come out with a vol.II to cover the small percentage of my favorites not in this volume. Until then, I will continue to rise up singing each and every time I use this great book! Everyone should own *at least* two copies. I just got my fourth, and I think I'll be giving it away this holiday season! If you love to sing, play an instrument, or just be happy with friends, this is the book for you. Excellent songbook! You'll find all the "golden oldies" as well as songs and alternative lyrics which celebrate voices traditionally silenced in the broader culture. The book demonstrates folk music's amazing ability to recreate itself as a reflection of the people. And who better to introduce it then Pete Seeger?
